PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed arresting an alleged terrorist involved in a blast in the Mardan courts in 2016.
An official said that the accused Tilawat was arrested during action in Mardan. On Wednesday CTD had arrested an accused involved in kidnapping a citizen from Peshawar and demanding Rs900 million ransom. The official said the wanted kidnapper was carrying head money of RS 3 million. ....

KPRA surpasses revenue collection target: official

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has surpassed the revenue collection target for the fiscal year 2020-21 by collecting Rs20.8 billion against the revised upward target that signified 22 percent growth, said an official during an online session.
According to figures shared by tax and audit expert Muhammad Umair Zeb, the authority witnessed 22 percent growth on year basis by collecting Rs20.8 billion in the fiscal year 2020-21 compared to the corresponding fiscal year of Rs17 billion.
He said the growth witnessed 100 percent increase as compared to the figure of 2018-19, which was 10 billion.
Umair Zeb, who is a member of Tax Bar Association Peshawar, said the government had facilitated the taxpayers and adopted a collaborative approach that has worked. ....

MARDAN: A transgender person was shot dead after a musical concert in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Friday, ARY News reported.
As per details, the firing incident was reported after a musical concert in Mardan’s area of Jhanday. As a result, a transgender person who was invited to the concert lost his life.
The First Information Report (FIR) of the incident has been registered, said the police and added that raids are being conducted to arrest the culprits. ....

Coronavirus 4th wave: Mardan traders oppose another smart lockdown

MARDAN: The business community here on Thursday rejected the statement of Federal Minister Asad Umar about a smart lockdown on Eidul Azha in view of the likely fourth wave of coronavirus.
“The government should stop forthwith the economic murder of traders in the guise of Covid-19,” said Aurangzeb Kashmiri, Senior Vice-President Markazi Tanzeem-e-Tajiran while talking to The News.
He said whenever the businesses were resumed and the traders started earning two-time meals for the children, the government imposed restrictions after citing the start of the fresh wave of the Covad-19.
Aurangzeb Kashmiri said the last three waves of the coronavirus had broken the backbone of traders across the country and they were yet to recover from the huge losses due to the closure of the businesses. ....
