The Toadies make more than just music: New coffee and comic hit the shelves
The Fort Worth band has been busy during the pandemic.

Like many other bands, the Toadies have been busy during the pandemic, looking to make the most of the mandated time off the touring highway. But unlike the livestream concerts or surprise album drops that have been popping up in the past few months, the beloved Fort Worth alt-rock kings have been churning out comics and coffee. You know, standard rock ‘n’ roller stuff.
The upscale deep-fried corn dog business is expanding into Preston Center. After opening their first restaurant in northwest Dallas about a year ago, the mother-daughter duo of Vickie Fletcher, who worked at the State Fair of Texas overseeing the sale of millions of corn dogs since the 1980s, and Jace Fletcher Christensen are spreading their fancy fried food fare.
The unusual name, CornDog with No Name, is the result of a lawsuit that settled out of court. The original name of the first spot, EatFletch, got Christensen in hot water with her step-grandmother, who sued her for using part of her last name in fear people would think they re serving the official fair corn dogs (they re not). Christensen agreed not to use the name and, in a hurry to reopen the restaurant, slapped up a sign that read CornDog With No Name.
Texas-based brewery Martin House Brewing is famous for outrageous and unexpected flavors. Honestly, they have sweet down to a science, with past varieties like Plum Pudding and Cookies that taste like the real thing. They ve also braved the frontier of savory flavors.
Some, like the Best Maid Pickle Beer, are absolutely delicious, and some are real headscratchers, like the newly announced Buffalo Wing and Ranch Dipping Sauce beers.
I mean, I won t knock any beer before I ve tried it. Oskar Blues French Mustard beer was way better than I thought it would be.
Except for a core of about six or so varieties, Martin House does their flavors as limited runs. So given the opportunity to try Space Pizza, a pizza-flavored beer, I took the plunge. I give it a hearty.it was alright.
