DHEC provides list of independent S.C. pharmacies set to receive J&J vaccine

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) – Over 100 independent pharmacies in South Carolina will soon receive the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced on Wednesday how it was going to distribute the new vaccine across the state.
South Carolina will receive 41,000 doses of the vaccine next week. It’s not clear right now if that’s how much the state will get every week.
FORGING AHEAD |
State Epidemiologist Dr. Linda Bell said DHEC is activating independent pharmacies that will receive the J&J vaccine because they are more likely to serve rural counties. The J&J vaccine also doesn’t have strict storage and handling requirements like Pfizer and Moderna, so it will be easier for smaller pharmacies to handle the vaccine. ....

Abduction charges among Warren County grand jury indictments


The Warren County grand jury handed up several indictments last week, including charges involving drugs, eluding and abduction.
Trevor James Lee Sutphin, 20, of 15682 Whitetail Lane, Culpeper, was charged with abduction by force/intimidation. Hugo Orlando Nunez II, 22, of 526 Washington Ave., Front Royal, was also charged with abduction by force/intimidation.
According to the criminal complaint in both cases, police received a report that a man was lured to an apartment in Front Royal via a Snapchat message from a female s account.
When the victim entered the apartment, Sutphin, Nunez, a juvenile male and another person confronted the victim, assaulted him and forced him to remove his clothing, the complaint states. ....

Mountain Vista
The Governing Board of Mountain Vista Governor s School has announced Kelly A. Huff has been named regional director. Huff succeeds Roseanne Williamson, who will retire as director on Jan. 1.
Mountain Vista is a governor s school for math, science and technology that serves over 200 gifted and talented high school students from the school divisions of Clark, Culpeper, Frederick, Fauquier, Winchester City, Rappahannock and Warren.
As regional director, Huff will serve as the principal and primary administrator and will oversee day-to-day operations, curriculum development, and faculty and staff relations.
A 19-year veteran of the public education system, Huff taught English for 13 years and served as assistant principal for four years, all at Alleghany High School in Covington. She was promoted to director of secondary instruction for Alleghany County Public Schools and served in this role for two years. ....
