Sturgis man dies as pickup hits tree in St. Joseph County

CENTREVILLE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Sturgis man was killed early Tuesday morning when his pickup truck crashed into a tree east of Constantine.
The St Joseph County Sheriff’s Department is continuing their investigation into the crash which took the life of 49-year-old Randy Wayne Caruthers.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says the crash took place just after 5:00 a.m. in the area of Featherstone Road and Sevison Road.
When Deputies arrived at the crash, they found Caruthers deceased in the vehicle.
It was determined that he was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 east on Featherstone Road when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road to the right and struck a tree. ....

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI A woman whose vehicle veered off Constantine Road and into the Fawn River was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital Thursday morning.
Barbara Melinda Phillips, 60, of Mendon, was northbound on Constantine Road, just north of Mintdale Road, when her vehicle left the roadway, hit a bridge retaining wall, then overturned and landed on its roof in the river, a news release from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office states. ....
