Johns Creek Arts Center event celebrates Eid al-Fitr

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. â The Johns Creek Arts Center held another swag bag art to-go drive-up event on May 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to commemorate Eid al-Fitr. Residents and families were welcome to drive up to the entrance and receive giftbags of child-friendly art items themed after the Muslim holiday. Eid al-Fitr means the âfestival of breaking the fastâ and was celebrated between the evenings of May 12 and 13.
âThis marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan in which Muslims fast for a whole month during daylight hours and reflect on those who are less fortunate and are encouraged to be generously active in charities,â said Arts Center Executive Director Stephanie Donaldson. âThe diverse groups we have focused on have been very happy that we are reaching out to their communities fostering a sense of good will, inclusion and community.â ....

Johns Creek Arts Center to host Earth Day drive-up event

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. â The Johns Creek Arts Center is hosting its fourth art-to-go event on Saturday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in honor of Earth Day.
The first 100 families who register online will receive a free swag bag that includes information and activities promoting the Earth Day message of conservation.
Arts Center Executive Director Stephanie Donaldson said sheâs grateful for the drive-up events and how they have allowed the organization to continue its initiative of getting art to everybody in the community, despite the limits of the pandemic.
Participating families have also expressed their appreciation.
Holly McCallum said her two boys have loved all of the previous art-to-go events and are looking forward to the Earth Day activities. ....

Valley couple survives food truck explosion, community rallies to raise money for medical expenses

GILBERT, Ariz. Robert and Amber Everson love food and love their community. The couple owns the BAMA BBQ 4 Ever food truck.
Last week, they were finishing up a community event for the Adora Trails Thursday Food Truck event when Robert he heard woof-like noises coming from the truck. He opened the top of a gas tank and gas erupted, then there was a loud explosion.
Robert was thrown out from the front and his chef’s jacket caught on fire. His wife Amber stumbled from the back. ....

Officials celebrate Arts Center for 25 years of service

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. â Thanks to a resolution from State Rep. Angelika Kausche, Feb. 27 will henceforth be known as Johns Creek Art Center Appreciation Day in Fulton County.
Under normal circumstances, the Arts Center staff and board would have been invited to the state Capitol to receive the resolution. Instead, former and current board members, including some charter members of the board, gathered this year at the Johns Creek Art Center to celebrate this honor.
They were joined by City Council members Erin Elwood, Brian Weaver and Chris Coughlin.
KauscheÂ presented the resolution to Executive Director Stephanie Donaldson.
âThis is recognizing the Johns Creek Art Center for 25 years of providing affordable, high quality art education to the residents of North Fulton and the surrounding communities,â Kausche said. ....
