Four Wisconsin kids became orphans after their parents both died suddenly from cardiac episodes, about a year and a half apart from each other. Craig, 40, and Stephanie Pearson, 38, were both beloved members of their community and very involved in their kids lives. They were phenomenal parents, phenomenal neighbors and phenomenal friends, said Scott Stortz, Slinger village president and personal friend of the Pearsons. Very involved in the community. They coached teams, they sat on boards for the soccer club, the basketball club and they were always involved in everything. Stephanie died in October 2019. Tuesday would have been her 40th birthday. For 18 months, Craig took care of their kids. He had help from his sister, Lydia Pearson, who temporarily moved into his home for support after Stephanie died. Then, Craig died on April 29, 2021. He died the day before his 41st birth ....

The Pearson kids, ranging from elementary to high school age, are now without both parents.
Sometimes, it takes a village.
We’ll do whatever we can to help them, said Scott Stortz, Slinger village president and a friend of the family.
The Pearsons were known for their community involvement.

Not only did four siblings of the Pearson family lose their mother last year, but they were dealt another blow when they tragically lost their father late last month.
“It’s hard to put words to it,” said family friend Scott Stortz.
Craig and Stephanie Pearson leave behind four children: Adeline, Brookelyn, Cadence and Andrew.
Their loss has taken a toll on the entire Slinger community.
“The kids are just excellent kids,” Stortz said. “We don’t know why things happen. We’re just called to act upon them.” ....

While the rate of adolescents receiving the first shot of the HPV vaccine increased statewide, new data shows the rate of young Iowans actually completing the two-dose series declined in 2019.
Experts say thereâs potential the COVID-19 pandemic could further decrease these vaccination rates, which has caused a similar declining trend in other routine childhood immunizations in Iowa and nationwide, according to studies from a major health insurance federation.
A new report published Tuesday by Blue Cross Blue Shield Association analyzed HPV vaccination rates over a three-year period for commercially insured populations nationwide that are between the ages of 10 and 13 years. ....
