ECU aims to coach K-12 students on college education


East Carolina University News Services released a statement on April 26 that said officials have advocated for K-12 students to learn more about higher education and life as a college student and will plan events to encourage students to stay on track for college.
Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of ECU Undergraduate Admissions Stephanie Whaley said in the press release she wants to connect younger students to ECU.
“It’s really important for ECU to connect with younger students in elementary school and in middle school so that they can create some sort of affinity to ECU,” Whaley said.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has created a video for younger students which allows them to express what career they would like to do in the future, according to the press release. The release said ECU hopes to give tours to these students once COVID-19 restrictions are raised. ....

    The East Carolina University Board of Trustees welcomed ECU Chancellor Dr. Philip Rogers to his first meeting of the full board and its committees Thursday and Friday.

Risk management, university operations discussed at BOT meetings


East Carolina University’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Audit, Enterprise Risk Management and Ethics Committee and University Affairs Committee met on April 22, where recent internal audits, enterprise risk management and athletics updates and artificial intelligence usage in university admissions were reviewed.
The Audit, Enterprise Risk Management and Ethics Committee’s meeting began at 8:30 a.m. with an update by Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Athletics Fiscal Affairs Stephanie Coleman on ECU’s enterprise risk management (ERM). She said there were a handful of changes in regard to workforce challenges, university financial stability, cyber threats and more since the committee’s last meeting on Feb. 12. ....
