Malden Catholic’s Administrative Assistant for Athletics Sherry Endicott recently announce her retirement after 20 years of service and MC Director of Athletics William Raycraft named Matthew Blair as MC’s new assistant athletic director.
Two decades at Malden Catholic
For the past 20 years, Endicott P’99, 01, 04 and 06, served Malden Catholic in many roles throughout the school. She began working at the front desk and eventually joined the athletics office as the administrative assistant supporting the programs by managing transportation, correspondence and uniform/equipment distribution. As a result of her dedication to the school, over the years Endicott has earned the MC Adult Athletic Service Award, the Theodore James Ryken Award and received special recognition at MC’s 2021 Baccalaureate Mass. ....

Saugus Middle-High School outdoor athletic complex named in honor of Christie Serino Jr.

The Saugus Middle-High School outdoor athletic complex will bear the name of the late legendary Saugus athlete and coach Christie Serino Jr.
Town Meeting members voted unanimously to name the athletic complex adjacent to the new Saugus Middle-High School the Christie Serino Jr. Athletic Sports Complex.
Board of Selectmen Chairman Anthony Cogliano said he couldn’t see any individual more deserving of the honor than Serino, who excelled in hockey, baseball and football at Saugus High School and coached those same three sports at his alma mater.
“I think it’s a fitting tribute for someone who is extremely deserving,” Cogliano said. ....

Enciso Torres Establishes La Colaborativa Club at Malden Catholic – Chelsea Record

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many local families have been grappling with food insecurity and relocation, among a multitude of adversities. Remote classrooms are challenging to navigate; and Malden Catholic High School (MCHS) sophomore, Alondra Enciso Torres of Revere, aspires to aid other students and their families in accessing vital resources.
“A tremendous number of families are struggling during this global pandemic, so it is important that we help these families,” asserted 15-year-old Alondra. “I cannot imagine how hard it has been for children who are younger and just getting started with school to experience virtual learning without the necessary technology.” ....

Town Meeting will decide whether to name Saugus Middle-High School complex in honor of Christie Serino Jr.

A push is underway to name the new Saugus Middle-High School athletic complex in honor of the late Christie Serino Jr.
On behalf of the Serino family and the Friends of Saugus High School Hockey, School Committee member John Hatch requested the Board of Selectmen insert an article on the annual Town Meeting warrant to name the athletic complex after Serino.
A former three-sport star and inductee into the Saugus High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Serino went on to coach hockey, baseball and football at his alma mater. He was also a standout performer in all three sports at American International College. ....

Appreciation: Remembering the Great Michael T. Kearney – Everett Independent

Michael T. Kearney built a legendary career in sports across multiple communities including Revere, Malden, Chelsea, and Everett.
Mr. Kearney, a popular youth coach in Revere sports, most notably as an assistant on Lou Cicatelli’s RHS staff for more than a decade, died on Feb. 25. Mr. Kearney, who had been living in Everett for several years, was 91.

A terrific football player at Malden Catholic High School and Northeastern University, Mr. Kearney above all loved coaching kids.
“We are saddened by this loss to our football program and our community,” said Cicatelli. “Mike was a staunch supporter and a coach for many years. He helped us with the running backs at Revere High School and I know he helped out coaching in other Revere sports as well. Just a nice, nice guy who was as knowledgeable about football as they come and a tremendous person to have around inspiring and being a positive influence for our student-athletes.” ....
