DC Kupwara reviews indicators under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme

Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of District Tuberculosis Forum to review the progress of various indicators under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in the district.
On the occasion, it was informed that there are two Culture Machines CBNAAT and TRUENAT available in the district one at SDH Kupwara and another at DH Handwara for diagnosing of TB patients. It was also informed that the district has applied for Sub elimination of TB certification for the year 2021 and the District Tuberculosis Centre Kupwara has been performing bidirectional Covid-TB screening.

Plans to deploy extra staff at labs to give RT-PCR test result quickly: Nodal Officer


Mysore/Mysuru: The District Administration is planning to deploy additional staff at two
RT-PCR testing laboratories in city to issue report within a day.
“The swab collection has reached almost 8,000 a day. The capacity of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) laboratory was around 4,000 samples. Similarly, the daily capacity of CFTRI laboratory is 1,500 samples But the MMC&RI laboratory staff has stretched the sample testing up to 6,000 by working day and night,” informed Dr. Mohammed Shiraz Ahmed, District Tuberculosis Officer and Nodal Officer for RT-PCR testing and reporting in the district.
He told SOM that the threat of COVID-19 second wave has made people to come in large hoards to testing centres in city. Naturally, the swab collection has reached 8,000 mark as against around 4,000 last month. As two to three lab technicians have taken ill, there has been a backlog of two days which will be cleared by tomorrow, he said.

Mysore/Mysuru: With no let up in Corona positive cases, the District Administration has decided to convert
Trauma Care Centre situated in the premises of PKTB Hospital on KRS Road in city as Covid Hospital from tomorrow. 
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri said that the Trauma Care Centre, which is under the control of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI), will be used to treat Corona positive patients from tomorrow. Whatever manpower such as doctors, nurses, paramedics and infrastructure like beds, cots and oxygen required to treat patients will be provided to the Centre immediately.

Rohini Sindhuri has set a target of three lakh vaccination within 15 days jointly by District Administration and MAHAN (Mysore Association of Hospitals And Nursing Homes) in view of beginning of COVID-19 second wave in City and District.
Talking to reporters after visiting Ashakirana Hospital at Hebbal here yesterday, she said MAHAN Group Private Hospitals of all 65 Wards have come forward to do vaccination free of cost. Already, over 25 Private Hospitals have agreed for it and 50 more Hospitals were expected to join this mission in next one week, she added.
The DC said the Corona positive cases have been on rise in city in last one week. The chances of contracting the contagion were less if more and more people take vaccine voluntarily. In Mysuru District, there are 8 lakh people above 45 years of age, and already 2 lakh persons have been vaccinated. There are 53 vaccination booths in various Wards and some more booths will be opened to enable people to take the vaccine from their nearby centres.

Valediction of 32nd National Road Safety Month-2021 held across Kashmir


 
Srinagar: Series of activities to raise awareness among the masses with respect to road safety marked the culmination of National Road Safety Month-2021 themed ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ across all the districts of Kashmir.
On the occasion, Valediction function was held at Srinagar and at all the districts to observe the conclusion of the month long awareness drive that was kick started on 18 January, 2021.
During this period, a number of activities including debates, quiz, essay and painting competitions, distribution of pamphlets and print material, blood donation camp, fitness mela, walkathon, rallies to raise mass awareness among the drivers and the public about road safety norms besides health check up camps were conducted by the Regional Transport Authority, Kashmir and Astt.
