WATCH: Community leaders prepare for ‘Walk to End Gun Violence
As shootings continue to plague Memphis, another “Community Walk to End Gun Violence” is set for Saturday in Frayser.
“It’s National Crime Victims’ Rights week. Come out for the 38 children who lost their life last year,” said District Attorney Amy Weirich.
Weirich said fighting crime is not just something police can do on their own.
Weirich called on the community after hundreds of murders in Memphis last year and dozens more already this year. ....

Tennessee grand jury indicts suspect for murder of Camden teen

A Whitehaven, TN man has been indicted in the shooting death this summer of a teenager from Camden, AR he allegedly had been trafficking for commercial sex acts, said Shelby County, TN, District Attorney Amy Weirich.
Robert J. Holmes, 31, was indicted on felony counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, trafficking for commercial sex acts, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony.
He is being held in the Shelby County, TN Jail.
Holmes was arrested on June 23 after the body of Jareesa Porchia, 19, was found in a ditch on Old Getwell Road just south of Knight Arnold Road, east of the Memphis International Airport. ....
