More than 20 million trees and other natives will be planted around New Zealand s biggest harbour in the groundbreaking $200 million Kaipara Moana Remediation project.
Alan Wilcox, a senior manager for the Kaipara Moana Remediation interim management unit, said planting the 20 million trees was the foundation of a new intergenerational approach.
The first plantings are planned this month. They will be the start of New Zealand s biggest large-scale harbour restoration programme - across 6000sq km of land with more than 8000km of waterways. ....

Singapore: Another 14 new Covid-19 community cases confirmed, 11 are linked to hospital cluster

SINGAPORE, May 2 (The Straits Times/ANN): There were 39 new coronavirus cases confirmed on Sunday (May 2), taking Singapore s total to 61,218.
Of these, 14 are from the community and there are none from the workers dorms.
Eleven of the patients from the community have been linked to the nurse at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and were detected from the testing of patients and staff at the hospital.
In total, there are 27 cases linked to the TTSH cluster so far. It is the largest of nine active clusters in Singapore. ....

A week and a half into the transtasman travel bubble is said to have catapulted New Zealand hospitality sales to their biggest week of the year yet.
According to digital insights platform Trickle, which tracks
sales data from over 300 hospitality venues across New Zealand - representing approximately 5 per cent of the industry, last week hospitality netted its biggest sales week of the year, with sales up 38 per cent following the travel corridor opening up on April 19. ....
