365 Days of Texas True Crime: Elizabeth
Back in 2019 I wrote about the Elizabeth Henry case. I have some more pictures to post with it so I figured I would repost and refresh.
Elizabeth Kathleen Henry went missing from her home at 3610 Apollo Ct in Midland on a Monday, August 19th, 1991. The last time anyone saw were was after football practice that afternoon at Midland Lee High School. Elizabeth was a trainer.

On the day she went missing a 911 call was made from her home at 2:14 p.m. where a girl was heard screaming and then the line went dead. Police were dispatched to the address where the call came from and arrived within five minutes. They found the garage door open and the back door unlocked but other than that the house looked normal. They reported that the home showed no signs of a struggle. ....

William Paul “Willie” Brooks was born December 9, 1936 in Abilene, Texas to James Paul Brooks and Mary Wright Brooks. With his beloved wife Glendene at his side, he died March 3, 2021 at Magnolia Health Care Place in Liberty, Texas. Now he truly lives in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Willie graduated from Midland High School in 1955 where he was President of his Senior Class and the quarterback for Coach Tugboat Jones. He was voted “Best All-Around Boy” by his peers, and his coaches said he could hide the football and pass better than any quarterback Midland had ever seen. After high school, he went on to Baylor University, then to Howard Payne University where he graduated in 1960. ....

Simone "Sam" Volpe

Simone Sam Volpe was called to his heavenly home at age 91 on January 1, 2021. Though his body is at rest, his light shines on in those he inspired as a coach, an educator and man of faith.
Sam was a first generation Italian-American born in Akron Ohio on August 29, 1929 to Giuseppe and Marzia Volpe. He graduated from Akron High School, in 1947 and attended Ohio State University on a track scholarship before transferring to Abilene Christian College, where he anchored a world record-breaking sprint medley team before graduating in 1952. While attending ACC, Sam met Marilyn Key Black from Littlefield, Texas, who he married on September 4, 1951. He was totally smitten when he was set up on a blind date (his first date ever) by his track teammates. Sam and Marilyn were married 69 years. ....

Johnnie Mae Scott, 64, of Midland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2020 in San Angelo. Johnnie Mae was born May 17, 1956 in Hereford, TX to Raymond Odell Samuels and Kathrine Jenkins Samuels. She grew up in Anson, Texas and graduated from Midland Lee High School. She continued her education at Midland College and became a certified medical assistant. Johnnie Mae married the love of her life Robert Lewis Scott on June 12, 1994 in Midland, Texas and they shared twenty-five beautiful years together and raised three children. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her Savior, her family, and her friends. Johnnie Mae was the matriarch of her family in the true sense of the word. Family and friends would come to her for inspiration, advice, and comfort in times of trouble. Playing the “Mama Bear” role she was not only protective, but precise in how she cared for others.
