Big Green Lake – The smallmouth bass bite is on, but I am only catching males. The water temp is still in the low 40’s, and I expect the bite and size to improve with warmer weather forecast for this coming weekend. Try Damiki rigs in 24 ft of water for smallies. Lake trout up to 36 inches active in 180 ft of water trolling with spoons and crankbaits.
Lake Puckaway – Walleyes are done spawning and cooler water temps have slowed the fishing. Wisconsin Elite Series Walleye Tournament last weekend was only 9.51 pounds.
Fox Lake (Dodge Co) Northern pike are active in shallow water, but the largemouth bass bite has slowed with water temps dropping back into the 50’s. Look for walleyes in the Government area and try trolling with spinners and crawlers. ....

Hi Dale,For the most part there’s been some Coho and some brown trout around seems like the afternoon bite around this area was better for the coho the past week then the morning bite.After the windy weather yesterday the lake got pretty churned up and from the reports I had this morning from a couple guys the Coho were biting pretty well.Was quite a few Northerns caught one day last week 4 that I know of.Have reports from the south side that the perch are on fire! Nobody’s trying perch up this way that I know of. ....

Most consistent action has been for boaters up the Calumet, Slez’s reported best from 105th to the Ford plant; South Side slips have had some good days for shore anglers finding any spot they can. Security varies in dealing with fishing private property around South Side slips. Steelworkers Park at 87th is public land.
AREA LAKES
Conditions vary from lake to lake, but there’s some fishable ice. Larry Green: He and Charlie Mack found fishable ice at Forest Preserves of Cook County over the weekend and caught largemouth bass. Ken “Husker” O’Malley: He hopes to be ice fishing by the weekend south of the city, where he found 4 inches of ice on shore, dropping to 2 inches. ....

The center of the action remains the Calumet system and the South Side slips. Security varies in its dealings with fishing on the private property areas around the South Side slips. The small piece of Steelworkers Park at the eastern end of 87th is public land.
Arden Katz said perch are still in at the South Side slips, key for his success is using a pencil weight with two Mini-Miters tied a foot apart a foot above, then snap retrieving. ....
