Some Lawmakers Aren't Optimistic That All Budget Bills Will Get Done Before Deadline

(KNSI) – The Minnesota Legislative Session is coming down to the end of overtime, and some lawmakers are more optimistic than others that the work will get finished before a government shutdown.
Members of the Minnesota House and Senate have been in Special Session since June 14 after Democrat and Republicans couldn’t hammer out a projected $52-billion operating budget by the mandated deadline.
Lawmakers have three funding bills left, including a State Government and Veterans Bill, a Tax Bill, and the Public Safety and Judiciary proposals.
St. Cloud Representative Dan Wolgamott says there’s still plenty of work to be done on those three bills. ....

Legislative Update: Top Priorities for Corn Farmers During the Unique 2021 Session


Tuesday, the Minnesota Legislature convened for its 92
nd Legislative Session. As with many other things in the past year, the Minnesota Legislative Session will not be the same as past sessions.
The House of Representatives plans to conduct all business (committee hearings, floor sessions and individual meetings) mostly remote. Floor sessions will have limited attendance by members with most members voting remotely.
The Senate will conduct business with a bit of a hybrid approach. Committee meetings can be attended in-person by members, and there will be a remote option for Senators and potential testifiers. All activity of the legislature will mostly be streamed, and access to the capitol grounds and office buildings is mostly closed to the public, unless there are changes to capitol operations later in session.
