Minnesota movie theater manager allegedly sold cocaine in popcorn bags

A Minnesota movie theater manager was giving more than butter with popcorn, according to media reports.
Jamie Lynn Hiniker, 39, who manages a four-screen theater in Spotlight Theatres in Mankato, located 80 miles from Minneapolis, was named in a criminal complaint Thursday with selling cocaine hidden in a bag of popcorn to a police informant, according to The Smoking Gun.
Authorities said Hiniker typically sold the drugs behind the theater in an alley, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the outlet.
The informant, working with a Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force agent, purchased $100 of cocaine from Hiniker in July 2020, the complaint said. She allegedly put the drugs in a popcorn bag and topped it off with popcorn to conceal it. ....

Jamie Lynn Hiniker, 39, is feloniously charged with selling “one or more mixtures containing a narcotic drug,” and could face a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison or a fine of $250,000 if convicted, according to the complaint.
It happened at the four-screen Spotlight Theatres, about 80 miles from Minneapolis, the
Smoking Gun reported Thursday (May 6). The outlet also published the court document.
Hiniker, of Mankato, allegedly sold the drugs on July 21, 2020.
On that day, a Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force agent was in communication with a confidential police informant about buying the drugs. Officials knew that Hiniker used her role at the movie theater to sell cocaine, either in the alley or with popcorn in a container, the statement of probable cause reads. ....

Jamie Lynn Hiniker, 39, was named yesterday in a criminal complaint charging her with narcotics sales. Hiniker is the general manager of the four-screen Spotlight Theatres in Mankato, a city 80
miles from Minneapolis.
If convicted of the felony drug count, Hiniker faces a maximum 20-year prison term and a fine of up to $250,000.
Hiniker was a target of a Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force probe, according to a probable cause affidavit. An investigator reported that he knew “through previous investigations” that Hiniker worked at a movie theater and “the sale of cocaine typically took place behind the theater in an alley or at the theater in a popcorn container with popcorn.” ....

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) A Mankato man was arrested Wednesday on charges of third-degree murder.
Authorities report that agents with the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force arrested 21-year-old Max Leo Miller, of Mankato, for third-degree murder. Miller was arrested as part of the investigation into the February overdose death of 21-year-old Travis Gustavson, also of Mankato.
On Feb. 24, Mankato Department of Public Safety officers and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service were called to the home of Travis Gustavson after a family member found him unresponsive. First responders were unable to revive Gustavson. ....
