A team led by Technical University of Munich (TUM) physicists Christoph Utschick and Prof. Rudolf Gross has succeeded in making a coil with superconducting wires capable of transmitting power on the order of more than five kilowatts contactless and with only small losses. The wide range of conceivable applications include autonomous industrial robots, medical equipment, vehicles and even aircraft.
Contactless power transmission has already established itself as a key technology when it comes to charging small devices such as mobile telephones and electric toothbrushes. Users would also like to see contactless charging made available for larger electric machines such as industrial robots, medical equipment and electric vehicles. ....

NHS Shetland is expecting to double its number of electric vehicles within the next few months.
The health boardâs director of finance Colin Marsland said NHS Shetland currently has five electric vehicles in its fleet.
âOver the next 10 weeks a further five electric vehicles are scheduled to be received after which 20 per cent of NHS Shetland core fleet of pooled vehicles will be electric vehicles,â he said.

K-Electric to reimburse Rs2.3b to consumers in March, April & May 2021

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has issued a notification for K-Electric to reimburse per unit cost of electricity of the last 11 months on account of the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) to power consumers. According to a notification by the regulator, for July 2019 it has been determined to return Rs1.21/unit to power consumers, August 0.7584/unit, September Rs0.3070/unit, October Rs0.1024/unit while regarding November’s FCA K-Electric has been asked to return Rs2.1265/unit and another refund of Rs1.7591/unit for December to the consumers.
For January 2020, it has notified that the utility will collect Rs0.9426/unit, February 0.5093/unit while asked it to return FCA of Rs0.0038/unit of March 2020, 0.7873/unit of April and Rs1.3538/unit of May 2020 to the power consumers. ....
