Evacuations lifted for Tussock Fire burning near Prescott National Forest

PHOENIX - Arizona fire crews have gained control of a
wildfire near Crown King that spread to the Prescott National Forest.
Evacuation orders have been lifted for the Minnehaha, Fort Misery, and Horsethief Basin communities, however, residents should remain ready in case another evacuation is ordered. Crown King residents have been asked to do the same.
Crown King remains closed to non-residents.
Any displaced residents needing assistance should call the American Red Cross at 1-800-842-7349.

The human-caused Tussock Fire is now 94% contained. Officials said the Southwest Area Type 1 Incident Management Team #2 will transition back to the local unit, which will continue to monitor and patrol the wildfire for the next several days. ....

COVID-19 Vaccination On Tap For Children Ages 12-15 In AZ 
The Arizona Department of Health Services says it’s ready to offer Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to children between the ages of 12 and 15. The announcement comes after the Food and Drug Administration authorized the vaccine for the youngest age group yet. 
 
ADHS announced Tuesday it s now waiting for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to support the vaccine for the age demographic. Depending on the CDC’s response, Arizona’s state-run sites in metro-Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma and Flagstaff could begin administering the vaccine to children as early as Thursday.  ....

Evacuations ordered as Tussock Fire burns over 4,100 acres, moves toward Crown King

After burning 4,171, the Tussock Fire remained 0% contained and pushed toward Crown King as of Monday morning, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
Evacuation orders for Minnehaha, Fort Misery, and Horsethief Basin remained in effect as well as road closures for Senator Highway (FS Road 52) between Hooper Saddle (FS Road 362) and Crown King (FS Road 259), while Crown King itself remained closed to non-residents, according to Deputy Scott Reed of the Yavapai County Sheriff s Office.
