Luanshya man denies insulting Lungu – Zambia: News Diggers!

A LUANSHYA man accused of insulting President Edgar Lungu during a phone-in programme on Millennium Radio has denied defaming the Head of State, saying he also felt hurt when he heard that someone had insulted Zambia’s leader.
This is a matter in which Fred Maanya is charged with defamation of the President.
Particulars of the offence allege that on March 28, 2019 in Lusaka, Maanya with intent to bring the name of the President into ridicule published insulting matter by word of mouth. ....

Zambia : Fred M'membe has lost a defamation suit against Rainbow Party President Wynter Kabimba


Socialist Party Leader Fred M’membe has lost a defamation suit against Rainbow Party President Wynter Kabimba in the Lusaka High Court. Lausaka High Court Judge Sharon Newa has ruled that the alleged defamatory words that Mr. M’membe complained about have been interpreted by the court as fair comment.
Judge Newa has also quashed the claim for damage of defamation of character by Mr. M’membe against Mr. Kabimba.
Socialist Party General Secretary Cosmas Musumali was the second plaintiff in the matter while Millennium Radio Station Manager Patricia Chibiliti was the second defendant.
Both Fred M’membe and Cosmas Musumali had sued Wynter Kabimba in the Lusaka High Court for defamation of character and were seeking an injunction to restrain him from issuing homosexual remarks against them. ....

President Edgar Lungu needs bigger shoes because those which Michael Sata left for him have become small, says Lands Minister Jean Kapata.
And Kapata has asked Zambians to tighten their belts saying the economic challenges currently being faced will soon be overcome.
Meanwhile, Kapata says she is waiting for her December salary so that she can add the deficit and pay back the money she owes government, as instructed by the Constitutional Court. ....
