Varthamanam is one of the angriest films I’ve seen, and rightly so. But it’s not any ‘mass’ dialogues that do it. It does this by showing you some of the things about this country that boil your blood. Faiza Sufiya (Parvathy), a Malayali, arrives at Delhi University to enrol as a research student. Her subject is Mohammed Abdur Rahiman Sahib, a freedom fighter and journalist who may not be as familiar to the general public as Mahatma Gandhi. In fact, a scene towards the end reflects this sentiment. Kozhikode: Kerala state film academy chairman and veteran Malayalam filmmaker Kamal has demanded the dismissal of V. Sandeep Kumar, an official of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) who made controversial remarks against an upcoming Malayalam movie and its screenwriter.
Kamal said Sandeep violated rules as he should never have made his feelings about a movie that he reviewed for the censor board public. âThis is a big mistake. He (Sandeep) should be dismissed from the censor board,â Kamal told ....
