Defence minister calls for joint action against non-state actors

The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd.), has called for a joint action to curb the threats to multinational territorial integrities by non – state actors.
He therefore reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to leverage more on the over 40 years’ experience of Pakistan in dealing with common security challenges in the areas of technical exchange and capacity building.
This was contained in a statement on Friday by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Mohammad Abdulkadri.
Magashi stated this when Pakistani Chairman Joint Chief of Staff, General Nadeem Raza, paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters Abuja. ....

Over 200 Nigerian soldiers serving mission in Gambia – Minister

The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd.), has said over 200 Nigerian soldiers are serving in the Economic Community For West Africa State mission in the Gambia.
He also said some Gambian military personnel had been enlisted into different institutions in the country.
According to a statement on Friday by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Magashi stated this while he and the Gambian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohamadou Njie, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of their countries at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja. ....
