The defence sector, especially research organisations such as DRDO, is opening up and it is being done in tune with the concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat said Director General Naval Systems and Materials, DRDO, Samir V. Kamat.
The distinguished scientist was here to deliver a talk on ‘Ease of doing business: Atmanirbhar Bharat’, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here on Friday.
He pointed out that as part of the opening up of the sector to the private players, the Defence Acquisition Procedure -2020 was drafted to simplify the hitherto cumbersome trial procedure and bring down the time taken in decision making. ....

Rajya Sabha passes Major Port Authorities Bill 2020 ensuring autonomy to 12 big ports
New Delhi, Feb 10 (UNI) Rajya Sabha on Wednesday passed the Major Port Authorities Bill, 2020, ensuring autonomy to 12 major ports in the country.
The Bill sought to provide for regulation, operation and planning of major ports in the country and provide greater autonomy to these ports, replacing the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963.
The legislation provides for the creation of a Board of Major Port Authority for each major port and to replace the existing Port Trusts.
While replying the debate on this Bill, the Union Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, Would a patriot oppose this Bill? This Bill is not for privatisation of ports. ....
