Both Mr. Prabhat, Speke Hotels’ group general manager, and Mr. Petzer, general manager of the Commonwealth Resort, reported to have served nearly a thousand people during the opening dinner, making it arguably one of the big evenings in the resort’s history. Although this figure is thought to include some support staff and security details, actual attendees are still considered to be touching the 900+ mark, a vote of confidence by the global “smart partners” in Uganda as a destination and the capacity to organize and successfully deliver such meetings.

Museveni arrived at the Kololo Independence Grounds in the capital city, Kampala, shortly after 11am on Wednesday for the swearing-in ceremony, accompanied by First Lady Janet Museveni.
He then inspected the guard of honour before taking the presidential oath of office, amid chants from Ugandans.
“I, Kaguta Yoweri Museveni, swear in the name of the Almighty God that I will pay allegiance to the Constitution of Uganda. That I shall faithfully exercise the function of the presidency of Uganda and that I shall promote the welfare of the people of Uganda. So help me, God.”

The Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Girls’ Education, Helen Grant MP, visited Uganda to see the work the UK is doing to help girls access quality education.

Helen Grant MP, visited Uganda from 24 to 26 March to see first-hand the work the UK is doing to help girls access and benefit from quality education in Uganda to build back better together from coronavirus. Her visit included a meeting with the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, the Honourable Janet Museveni.
Uganda was the Special Envoy’s first overseas visit since her appointment, highlighting the importance the UK places on girls’ education in Uganda and beyond.
