Alzheimer's Association announces education programs for June and July | Health Matters


SYRACUSE — Based on the guidance from local public health agencies, free education programs offered by the Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter will remain online until further notice. Programs are delivered through an easy-to-use online meeting system available to users on desktop or portable computers, and mobile devices.
“The health and safety of our constituents, volunteers and staff remain our driver as we address the COVID-19 outbreak and as we continue to pursue our mission, today and in the longer term,” said Catherine James, Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter Chief Executive Officer. “Alzheimer’s Association operations will continue, and we will re-evaluate these measures on an ongoing basis and resume in person engagements as soon as we are able, based on public health guidelines.” ....

Alzheimer's Association offers free programs in May, June | News, Sports, Jobs

The Alzheimer’s Association Michigan Chapter will partner with the Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Center at the University of Michigan (MADC) to offer two research programs focused on the latest in Alzheimer’s research in May. The Michigan Chapter also will offer a variety of virtual education programs, social engagement programs and more than 100 support groups to Michigan residents in the coming months.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Dr. Roberts and the MADC on our upcoming research events and offer much-needed programs and support to Michigan residents,” said Jean Barnas, Alzheimer’s Association program services director. “Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s is a growing burden here in Michigan and across the nation. It’s so important that Michiganders know we’re here for them.” ....

Alzheimer's Association launches statewide education series | Health Matters


SYRACUSE — The Alzheimer’s Association will launch a series of new virtual statewide Alzheimer’s education programs in an effort to reach more New York families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Each program will feature a special presentation by an expert in their field, as well as a question and answer period where concerns about diagnosis, research, treatment and support may be addressed. Participation is free and registration can take place by phone at 800-272-3900 or alz.org/newyork.
“Across the state, we are only reaching a fraction of those who are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia,” said Christopher Smith, New York State regional leader for the Alzheimer’s Association. “Along with creating more awareness about the impact of Alzheimer’s and dementia in New York, we hope this series of virtual programs will allow us to bring people together across the state to learn from experts on ....

HOME TESTING TO BE OFFERED: The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County branches are pickup locations for free COVID-19 home testing kits from Mahoning County Public Health.
The county has provided 1,900 kits, which come with detailed instruction sheets. They will be distributed through the main library, all open branches and the Pop-Up Library. Patrons must call 330-744-8636 to reserve a kit, which then will be available for curbside pick-up. ....
