YOUNGSTOWN A Warren woman who worked as a state-tested nurse’s aide at an Austintown assisted living center pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony patient abuse.
Samantha L. Garlow, 24, of James Street SE, struck an elderly resident, and was sentenced to two years of probation and 30 hours of community service.
She appeared before Judge Anthony Donofrio of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court and pleaded guilty as indicted. She could have gotten up to 18 months in prison.
Prosecutors said someone witnessed Garlow strike the resident at Victoria House assisted living center, 5295 Ashley Circle in Austintown, and reported it, leading to an investigation. ....
