ST. VINCENT, Fla. (WTXL) â Along the forgotten coast different islands give us a peek into the beauty of the Gulf while telling a story of the area.
Just a quick boat ride away lies a remote island, with more than 12,000 acres of undeveloped paradise.
"If you think about the core premise of a wilderness is, ya know, a place that is untrampled by humans," Deputy Refuge Manager for St. Vincent NWR John Stark said. "This island is about as close as you can get to that in a coastal Florida area."

Cascades Park extends across 24 acres near downtown Tallahassee. The park is known for it's beauty, but designed with an important function.
"It's a storm water management facility, designed as a water class park," Tallahassee Assistant City Manager Wayne Tedder said. "While it looks incredible for everyone that comes here, it serves a major purpose to address not only storm water flooding, but also storm water treatment that is necessary to protect our lakes down stream of this facility."

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. â As Mike Goldstein rides his bike through the streets of Tallahassee, he's pulling a cart for people to sit in.
Goldstein is the owner of Capital City Pedicab, a taxi on three wheels.
"At first it kind of threw people off," Goldstein said. "As they got more use to us it really benefited them getting around."
Since 2012, Goldstein and his dad have been pedaling on the streets of Tallahassee.

ST. MARKS, Fla. (WTXL) â An hour south of Tallahassee, a beautiful wildlife oasis brings travels from all around the world.
From land to water, 100,000 acres make up the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
On average, about 350,000 people visit every year.
"It was just a natural landscape that the native-Americans lived in and the landscape looked quite a bit different," Refuge Ranger David Moody said.
In the 1930s, the St. Marks Refuge land was purchased and used by timber companies for wood.

St. John's Episcopal Church is one of the oldest episcopal churches in Florida. It was founded in 1829 to be a faith center in the heart of Tallahassee, a city established in 1821.
"Tallahassee was halfway between Pensacola and St. Augustine," Senior Associate Rector Mtr. Abi Moon said. "Where the two older episcopal churches of the diocese are, so St. John's was a natural half way point."
