Meal Delivery Program Provides Sustenance for Local Senior Citizens
A local meal delivery program is ensuring that food gets into the hands of many senior citizens who need it.
County Executive Marc Elrich joined Montgomery County Recreation on Wednesday to prepare and deliver boxes of food. The Senior Meal Program has delivered more than 180,00 meals to elderly people who have been unable to shop or cook their meals throughout the pandemic.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) -It’s been 395 days!
That’s how long the doors at the New Hanover County Senior Resource Center have been shuttered thanks to COVID-19.
“We went through a pretty major renovation costing $1.8 million dollars. We were able to improve just the aesthetics of the building, but more importantly some of the layouts of the building have changed” says director Amber Smith. “So we’re actually really excited for people to see the renovations and to use the space in it’s new form. ....

City Program That Gives Food & Economic Assistance To Seniors Is Entering Phase 2


Louis Carrasquillo, Founder of Munchies Empanadas, is gearing up to cook meals for Rochester seniors.
“When I go places, you got to see the smiles on people’s faces. It’s priceless,” Carrasquillo said.
This is his second time helping out with the program. During the first phase he was a part of the crew that delivered over 14,000 meals to those who needed them.
As many as three hot meals can be ordered per week according to the City’s Department of Neighborhood and Business Development Commissioner Gary Kirkmire:
“We feel the need is dual, both for the restaurants to keep in business and stay afloat during this difficult time and then for our seniors who struggle to get out about.” ....

2020 will be the year that upended the restaurant industry. It’s difficult to talk about the year in review when everything changed, when people and businesses suffered during the pandemic. In light of the challenging year for everyone in Los Angeles, we asked food writers and industry folks about restaurants they thought stepped up for their communities and stakeholders.

Post & Beam’s chef/owner John Cleveland and numerous South LA restaurants worked with Councilman Marqueece Harris Dawson to prepare meals for seniors from March until June. The program ended June 12, but Clevelend extended the program by fundraising within the Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw community. I can’t think of another restaurant so commit ....
