The Social Welfare Department will execute a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the registration and processing of the Azadi Cards with the National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra) after the approval of the Senior Citizens Council within a month, the chief secretary assured the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday.
Hearing a petition seeking the enforcement of a law under which the elderly will get a 25 per cent concession in medical treatment at private hospitals, an SHC division bench headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar asked the CS about compliance with the court’s directives with regard to the issuance of the health cards. ....

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has taken exception to the delay in making arrangements to issue Azadi Cards to the elderly in the province, and directed the chief secretary to appear in person to explain the delay.
Hearing a petition seeking the enforcement of a law under which the elderly will get a 25 per cent concession in medical treatment at private hospitals, an SHC division bench headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar said that despite clear directions to the social welfare department, no steps have been taken to issue the health cards. ....

IRON MOUNTAIN Dickinson County on Monday gave ownership of the senior center at Crystal Lake to the Senior Citizens Council of Dickinson County, nearly 10 months after starting the process.
The council, which had previously leased the center, will pay a token $1 for the building and property.
“Amen,” was the comment of County Board Chairman Henry Wender after a vote to complete the sale. ....
