Rawalpindi : Six-month-old female conjoined twins Merab and Manahil were recovering at Holy Family Hospital after surgeons successfully separated them in a marathon surgery.
Talking to this agency on Tuesday, Dr. Mudassar Gondal, head of surgery of the Paediatric Surgery Department at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH), a team of doctors including anaesthesia team comprising Dr Ahmed and Dr. Ayesha headed by Prof Jawad Zaheer and surgeons Prof Nadeem Akhtar, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasir Shehzad and Senior Resident Dr. Mudassar Abbas Siddique, successfully dissected and reconstructed the spinal cord.
He said Pygopagus twins were born six months ago at the HFH with a common sacrum and a common subarachnoid space, and their vaginas and anal canals shared a common posterior wall called as Pygopagus congenital twins in medical terminology. ....

Man Jailed 18 Years For Defiling 12 Year Old Girl in Kasungu

The Senior ResidentÂ Â Magistrate Court in Kasungu District has sentenced 57-year-old Kaliza Njolomole to 18 years imprisonment for defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Police Prosecutor JamesÂ Muyila told the court that theÂ convict defiled the girl on January 29 this year at Chigumba Trading Centre where she had gone to play with her friends.
NjomoleÂ pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against him and the State prayed forÂ a stiffer punishment to deter would-be offenders.
Passing sentence, Resident Magistrate Bira Kamanga concurred with the State the the convict needed to be punished severely andÂ therefore sentenced himÂ to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour. ....
