Pompoms rustle and silver shoes flash as Japan Pom Pom practises, moving to a lively cheer dance beat. With members aged 60 to 89, they re no ordinary squad.

Mission Viejo Seniors Return to the Social Scene
After a year of social isolation, members of Mission Viejo’s elderly population were nearly brought to tears May 3 as they celebrated the reopening of the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
“It’s wonderful to be back and to be with people,” Mission Viejo resident Jan Brown told The Epoch Times. “I saw people that I haven’t seen in over a year, and I think everyone was very joyous to be back and be doing something.”
Brown has been a member of the center for decades and said the past year of state-mandated COVID-19 closures left her disconnected from others in the community. ....

In yet another sign there s light at the end of the corona tunnel, Adult Day Care Centers in Miami-Dade are opening for the first time since the pandemic began. The county-operated centers will be reopening in stages beginning today through June 14th. Miami-Dade Commissioner Joe Martinez says it will be good for the seniors to start socializing, exercising and re-engaging in society. He says seniors can only use the facilities in 2 hour shifts, no meals will be served and no transportation provided. 58-percent of seniors in Miami-Dade are now fully vaccinated.
