Plans To Renovate Historic Moores Park Pool In Lansing Move Forward

WKAR s Sophia Saliby speaks with Dale Schrader about the preservation efforts for Lansing s Moores Park Pool.
The pool is on the National Register of Historic Places and was designed by Lansing city engineer, Wesley Bintz.
Dale Schrader is on the executive committee for the group, Friends of Moores Park Pool and is the president of Preservation Lansing. WKAR’s Sophia Saliby spoke with him about what’s next for the pool.

On Why The Pool Should Be Preserved
It ll celebrate its 100th year anniversary next year, and Wesley Bintz was a Lansing city resident [and] city engineer. He went on to start his own company and built over 130 of these pools, these above ground signature pools around the country. And there s only a handful of them left, and Moores Park Pool is the oldest surviving Wesley Bintz swimming pool in the United States. ....

'Ron Burgandy' Launches Satirical Mayoral Campaign To Make Lansing Classy Again

Over the weekend, campaign signs for a new mayoral candidate showed up in Lansing lawns and businesses.
Ron Burgandy says he s running to make Lansing classy again in 2021.
His platform includes free tacos on Taco Tuesday, reopening the Moores Park Pool and training residents to travel to space.
A disclaimer on his campaign website does explain the whole campaign is a silly joke, especially since Ron is just Will Ferrell s character, Ron Burgundy, from the 2004 movie, Anchorman.
But that didn t stop WKAR s Sophia Saliby from securing an interview with Dr. Kenneth Noisewater about the campaign. He describes himself as Ron s chief political strategist and the founder, man of action and lead bear trainer with Make Lansing Classy Again. ....
