CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson guard Gabby Elliott has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2021 USA Women’s U19 World Cup Team Trials.
A total of 27 players will be at the trials, which will be held May 14-16 at Metro State University in Denver, Colo., where the 12-member team will be chosen. Featuring U19 teams from 16 nations, the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup is scheduled to be held Aug. 7-15 in Debrecen, Hungary. In addition to the USA and host Hungary, teams that will take part in this summer’s U19 World Cup include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Italy, Japan, Mali, Russia, South Korea and Spain.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Arkansas signee Jersey Wolfenbarger will be one of 27 players vying for a spot on Team USA for the U19 World Cup, USA Basketball announced today. Invitations were issued by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Selection Committee. Trials to select finalists for the 12-member team, which will be coached by Cori Close, Aaron Johnston and Joni Taylor, will be held May 14-16 at Metro State University in Denver. The selection committee will be led by Jennifer Rizzotti, the president of the Connecticut Sun. She will be aided by Temple University head coach Tonya Cardoza, Duke University head coach Kara Lawson, and North Carolina State University head coach Wes Moore.
Lexi Donarski invited to 2021 U-19 World Cup team trials

Aquinas alum and Iowa State guard Lexi Donarski has received an invitation to the 2021 USA Basketball Women’s U19 World Cup Team trials, per an official announcement.
The USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Selection Committee sent invitations to 27 athletes across the country. Donarski and the others will compete for one of 12 roster spots for Team USA in the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup in Hungary this August.
The team trials will be May 14-16 at Metro State University in Denver.
Donarski was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year after averaging 13 points a game for the Cyclones. She shot over 40 percent from the field and over 41 percent from three-point range.
Vaccination rates are lagging for Latino and Black Coloradans, as well as for men.
These two are exactly the kinds of people the state is hoping to reach now. They’re both young he’s 22, she’s 18 and from groups Latinx and Black Coloradans whose vaccination rates lag behind their share of the population.
But at least so far on this day last week at this site, they don’t have a lot of company. Nurse Hayley DeForest said it’s been pretty quiet.
“Demand, I feel like has gone down a little bit,” De Forest said. “It s just trying to figure out who still needs vaccines, because obviously, we have not vaccinated the entire population.”
