I present the Budget for the year 2021-2022.
1. Honourable Speaker, the preparation of this Budget was undertaken in circumstances like never before. We knew of calamities that have affected a country or a region within a country, but what we have endured with COVID-19
through 2020 is sui generis.
2. When I presented the Budget 2020-21, we could not have imagined that the global economy, already in throes of a slowdown, would be pushed into an unprecedented contraction.
3. We could not have also imagined then that our people as those in other countries would have to endure the loss of near and dear ones and suffer hardships brought about due to a health crisis. ....

Union Budget 2021 | Affordable, rental housing push likely to boost residential demand during COVID-19 pandemic
Infrastructure initiatives include MetroLite and MetroNeo to be launched for Tier-2 cities and peripheral areas of Tier-1 cities
Affordable and rental housing got a major push in Budget 2021 with the government extending the period for extra deduction of Rs 1.5 lakh available for loans up to March 31, 2022, a move expected to boost housing demand amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Amid the prolonged pandemic scenario, this extension was needed to support the latent housing demand in the country, experts said.
Infrastructure projects, especially Metro, also received a shot in the arm. This, said real estate experts, will act as a strong catalyst in driving real estate in urban areas. ....

Karnataka CM Yediyurappa says, budget to revive sluggish economy; What's in store for the state

Union Budget 2021 highlights
Hailing Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for coming out with a Budget that can revive the sluggish economy, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Monday said he strongly believes that the Budget will boost the economy which was badly hit due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yediyurappa conceded that it was impossible to expect a better Budget amid the pandemic. Despite the pandemic, this is a pro-poor and pro-middle class Budget, he said.
He added that the Finance Minister has announced necessary strategies for economic revival as well as containment of the pandemic.
It is a welcome measure that the vaccination drive against Covid-19 has been allocated Rs 35,000 crore and the Finance Minister assured that more funds will be provided in case of necessity, he observed. ....

Union Budget 2021-22: Tier-2 cities, peripheral areas of Tier-1 cities to get 'MetroLite' and 'MetroNeo'

The public transport system in urban areas got a major boost in the Budget.
A new scheme will be launched at a cost of `18,000 crores to support augmentation of public bus transport services.
Government plans to deploy two new technologies i.e. ‘MetroLite’ and ‘MetroNeo’ to provide metro rail systems at a much lesser cost
New Delhi: Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the year 2021-22 in the lower house of the parliament on Monday (February 1). The public transport system in urban areas got a major boost in the Budget.
While presenting the budget Finance Minister said that Government would work towards raising the share of public transport in urban areas through expansion of metro rail network and augment of city bus service. A new scheme will be launched at a cost of `18,000 crores to support augmentation of public bus transport services. ....
