MARIETTA, OH Anyone who knows Marietta s Indian Acres Park down by the baseball fields knows about the city s skate park. But, most people don t know the guys behind the skate park. About a decade ago, Aaron Reynolds, Zach Powell, Joseph Wartez, and friends of Skaters United Marietta Ohio (or SUMO) worked with the city to build what is truly an impressive skate park. ....

PARKERSBURG Awards were presented April 17 to the Blennerhassett Chapter DAR received from the virtual West Virginia DAR State Conference.
The awards were presented during the chapter’s April 17 meeting at the Blennerhassett Museum.

The grave marker for Henrietta Muncy is on the priority list to be replaced, as it is broken and disintegrating.
Mike Ryan rubs chalk over the names on a grave marker to make the words easier to read. The chalk helps the letters stand out, but doesn’t harm the stones.
Last summer, Washington County Historical Society Treasurer Mike Ryan decided to tap into a fund specifically for the Mound Cemetery for an ambition project. ....

‘Small hole’ leads to Monroe draining 350,000 gallons from water tower

City workers found a “small hole” in a water tower pipe after draining 350,000 gallons of water from one of the city’s three water towers.
Gary Morton, director of public works, told City Council members during Tuesday night’s meeting that a leak in the water tower near the Mound Cemetery on South Main Street was discovered earlier in the day when city employees completed their bi-weekly inspections of the water pressure.
He said the tower, built in 1997, may have rusted over time. He said water was “raining pretty good inside” the tower on Tuesday. ....
