The mayor dropped the mill rate this year, a typical election year gimmick for him, so that he can claim that he is the Godfather of Low Taxes in Shelton. Great. So, you’ll all save about $96 on your tax bill this year, but the teacher’s contract will not be funded so we will probably see more staff cuts for the fourth year in a row.
Remember that when the teachers’ salary contract was being negotiated, John Anglace, president of the Board of Aldermen, was participating in the negotiations. He approved the contract, and called the mayor to make sure that the mayor approved the contract as well, which he did. And yet, when the superintendent and the chair of the Board of Education came before the Board of Aldermen and the Board of Apportionment and Taxation and explained that they needed a minimum allocation of $1.179 million to cover the costs of tha ....

The Sedona International Film Festival has announced the lineup for its June 12 to 20 event, which will feature screenings and events at four venues, including Harkins Theatres Sedona 6 and Sedona Performing Arts Center. The lineup includes 45 narrative features, 38 documentary features, 43 documentary shorts, 46 narrative shorts, and six animated shorts. Ticket packages start at $165. Individual tickets are $15 and go on sale June 7.

The Heidelberg and On the Rocks are just two of the downtown businesses that are preparing for an increased number of people to be downtown this weekend.
Matt McGee, owner of On the Rocks bar said, The last few nights have been busy, whether that is due to the health order being lifted or graduation weekend is still up in the air.
Manager of The Heidelberg, Richard Walls said they are completely booked up with reservations for Saturday night and have a few openings for Friday. He said with graduations being spread out more it has allowed for traffic flow to go smoother in restaurants. ....
