GODFREY The Lewis and Clark Community College Foundation Board installed three new directors on April 21: Marlene Barach, Jerry Rumph and Matt Schrimpf.
Barach was a tenured faculty member and program coordinator at Lewis and Clark Community College for 22 years. Upon retirement, she served on the LCCC Board of Trustees from 2007-2019.
The Civic Memorial High School graduate earned her bachelor’s degree in business education from Illinois State University and her master’s degree in business education from Indiana University.
Barach is involved with other community organizations, including the Gatekeepers Community Housing Development Corporation of Bethalto and Madison County. She endowed a scholarship at LCCC which awards nearly $1,000 annually to a non-traditional student who is a woman returning to college to further her career. ....

Gov. J.B. Pritzker wants to close $932 million of what he called “corporate tax loopholes” to help Illinois balance its budget after the fiscal ruins of COVID-19, but the controversial proposal comes as cities and states gear up to land relocating jobs and strengthen an economy battered by the pandemic.
Trade groups spoke out against Pritzker’s plan after it was announced Wednesday, saying businesses are struggling even without new costs. ....
