Founded in 2020, the firm runs medical trials for pharmaceutical companies. Owned by Moorland Property Solutions, the previously vacant 16,000 sq ft complex is now 50% let following Elpida’s arrival. Joint letting agents for the scheme, Roberts Vain Wilshaw, Matthews & Goodman and Williams Sillitoe, are now planning to launch a marketing campaign for the remaining space. Joseph Wilshaw, principal director of Roberts Vain Wilshaw, said: “Despite the global pandemic, interest in the property has been strong and such is the high quality of the space, Elpida Sciences Swinton completed a lease of the property within five weeks of its first viewing.”

Total office take-up in Q1 reached 234,258 sq ft, down from the 349,513 sq ft in the fourth quarter of 2020, and 306,000 sq ft in the year-earlier period, according to the latest figures from the Manchester Office Agents Forum. Still, the market is maintaining “gradual momentum” as real estate and the general economy recovers from the pandemic, MOAF said. South Manchester was the best-performing office market, where take-up totalled 92,797 sq ft – in line with the 94,838 sq ft recorded in Q4 2020 and well above Q3 2020’s total of 39,174 sq ft.
Tritax Symmetry, Tritax Big Box’s dedicated logistics development business, says that fit out work at the deep-green regional distribution centre has now begun. The unit is at Symmetry Park Biggleswade, off the A1 trunk road and 29 miles north of the M25. The new centre, built by Winvic Construction, will support the Co-op’s future growth ambitions across London, the South and South East. Uniquely, the distribution centre will use energy from Co-op’s energy buying co-operative, Co-op Power. By using Co-op Power, the centre will share energy from 100 percent renewable sources. As a result, the centre is projected to make a saving of £3 million over 20 years. Co-op Power’s plans for the centre include installing 3.5 ME of solar PV in roof and supply balance from Biggleswade wind farm.
