North Central Ohio Industrial Museum to open this summer at OSR

MANSFIELD - If you re interested in manufacturing, you soon will be able to come and see hundreds of products made in north central Ohio including appliances, tires, pumps, Klondike bars, cigars and pieces made for streetcars.
The North Central Ohio Industrial Museum will officially open to the public this summer inside the lower east diagonal wing of the historic Ohio State Reformatory, showcasing the history of manufacturing in Mansfield and surrounding areas.
Jerry Miller of Ontario, who has been spearheading the effort for seven years, this past week opened the museum to invited guests including dignitaries, financial sponsors and donors of artifacts. Miller said a lot of the historical items were stored in the early 1990s at the Bissman Building and now have a permanent home. ....

'Judas and the Black Messiah," made partly in Mansfield, wins 2 Oscars

The bulk of the film, Judas and the Black Messiah, was made in Cleveland and filmed a few days in November 2019 at the Mansfield prison that was the backdrop for the hit movie The Shawshank Redemption.
The motion picture, directed by Shaka King, is based on real events in Chicago surrounding the 1969 murder/assassination of Illinois Black Panther leader Fred Hampton and the story behind FBI informant William O Neill, who infiltrated the party on behalf of the federal law enforcement agency.

The board allocated grants from donor-designated and agency funds. Agency Funds are established by charitable organizations and can be endowed or non-endowed. The agency benefits from the Foundation’s professional asset management, which allows the agency’s staff and board to focus on providing services to their constituents.
Designated Funds provide annual support to the charities selected by the donor. They offer the added benefit that if the organization ceases to exist; the Foundation has the responsibility to ensure that the donor s original intent is met in seeking new suitable organizations.

Ohio State Reformatory: Exploring the paranormal at 'Shawshank' site

MANSFIELD Daylight was expiring outside as I stood alone in a Mansfield Reformatory hallway connected to a maze of rooms in what used to be administrative offices.
A film crew and paranormal investigator had departed the third floor, heading up a stairwell to the chapel. Positioning a cellphone between my fingers, I stayed behind and captured a photo of a bedroom that had been featured in the movie The Shawshank Redemption, when from a darkened corridor emerged a faint, whispery voice:
What are you doing?
A chill passed through my body, goosebumps prickling my skin.
Questions filled my head: Did the sound materialize from a dimension or realm beyond this world? Was it spoken by the spirit of a former inmate? Did the voice belong to another member of the group? Or was it a trick of the imagination? ....
