BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - According to Mayor-President Broome’s Office, the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control says East Baton Rouge Parish meets the minimum requirement to move forward with increasing indoor bar occupancy capacity to 50%, subject to all other guidelines, this according to Mark Armstrong, Chief Communications Officer for East Baton Rouge Parish.
The announcement was made on Wed. March 3.
Governor Edwards announced yesterday that Louisiana would move into Phase 3 today. Under this phase, all bars are allowed to reopen for indoor service but occupancy is limited to 25% or less subject to all other guidelines. Parishes with two consecutive weeks of 5% or less positivity rate may increase bar occupancy to 50%. ....

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Just one day after WAFB did a story on new signs popping up around Baton Rouge that aim to prevent aggressive panhandling, a spokesperson with Mayor-President Broome’s Office confirms they are changing the wording on the sign and correcting the typo.

(WAFB) - Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is encouraging all residents in East Baton Rouge Parish affected by the recent winter storm to complete the statewide self-reporting Damage Assessment Survey in line with the recent announcement from Governor John Bel Edwards and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP).
This process is a mechanism used to determine the impact and magnitude of damage, parish by parish, as well as the resulting unmet needs of individuals, businesses, the public sector, and the community. BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The two cold weather shelters in the city of Baton Rouge are currently full.
And, one of the phone numbers the mayor’s office has told people to call for shelters has a voicemail message saying the office is closed.
The director St. Vincent de Paul, one of two shelters that were accepting people, says his agency is currently working to figure out a solution for housing more people. 120 people are staying there currently and they are full. However, he says they will continue working to find solutions for people who show up seeking shelter. ....
