Through the Blue Stars Museum Program, the museums and historic sites of the St. Mary’s County Museum Division will offer free admission for actively serving members of the armed forces, as well as up to 5 family members, from Armed Forces Day (Saturday, May 15, 2021) until Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 6, 2021).
Museums participating include St. Clement’s Island Museum and Piney Point Lighthouse Museum. Although the Old Jail Museum and Drayden African American Schoolhouse already offer free admission to all, guests are encouraged to visit these sites during this time. Please note that free admission does not apply to the water taxi at St. Clement’s Island Museum, only regular museum admission. ....

St. Clement's Island Museum and Piney Point Lighthouse Museum Offer Free Admission to Moms on Mother's Day | Southern Maryland News Net

On Mother’s Day, May 9, 2021, St. Clement’s Island Museum in Colton’s Point and Piney Point Lighthouse Museum in Piney Point will offer moms free regular admission to each of the museums during normal operating hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Others in the party must pay regular admission prices at both locations. The prices at St. Clement’s Island Museum are $3 for adults, $1.50 for children (6-18), $2 for seniors and military, five and under are free.
The St. Clement’s Island Water Taxi is not included in this promotion as free admission for moms only includes museum admissions. It is $7 per person (all ages) for the water taxi, including museum admission. The Piney Point Lighthouse Museum prices are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children (6-18), seniors and military, five and under are free. ....

The Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival, one of the mid-Atlantic’s signature jazz events held along the shores of the beautiful Potomac River and in the charming Town of Leonardtown in St. Mary’s County, Maryland, will feature fantastic jazz artists during the three day jazz weekend in 2021.
This popular, annual festival, which has become known in the past two decades for showcasing local culinary delicacies of Maryland’s Mother County in addition to renowned, national jazz talent, will be a bit different from past years when nearly 1000 people attended. The event, canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, will occur in 2021 with safety guidelines. A limited number of tickets will be available, so visitors are encouraged to purchase soon. ....

Saturday, April 24, at 4:00 p.m., visitors are welcomed to St. Clement’s Island Museum for a free authentic American Civil War era concert on the beautiful waterside lawn of the museum during the weekend commemorating a forgotten tragedy of the Civil War – the Black Diamond Disaster, which happened right in the Potomac River at St. Clement’s Island.
This family-friendly outdoor concert on the waterfront lawn of the museum will feature the Federal City Brass Band, a group that appears in period dress, uses mostly period instruments, and their musical selections are based on the military music books from the 1860s. ....

On Sunday, April 25, at 2 p.m., the St. Mary’s County Museum Division will remember the 87 lives lost in a tragedy during the American Civil War in a military ceremony with remarks from the Naval Air Station Patuxent River Base Commander and wreath laying on the waterfront at St. Clement’s Island Museum.
Further weekend activities will happen all day Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, at St. Clement’s Island Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. This free event is open to the public and is an excellent opportunity to learn more about one of Maryland’s worst nautical disasters and other information regarding St. Mary’s County during the American Civil War. ....
