‘Damaging’ police leniency over cannabis revealed ‘Astonishing disparity’ in enforcement across country as charity warns class B drug s true dangers are being ignored 19 May 2021 • 9:00pm Police have been accused of decriminalising cannabis by the back door, as official figures show nearly nine in 10 people in parts of the country are escaping court after being caught with the drug. The Home Office data reveal the most lenient forces are charging just one in eight (13 per cent) offenders, with the remainder let off with a caution, community resolution or on-the-spot fine. By contrast, the toughest police forces are charging up to 60 per cent of people caught with the class B drug, which has increased in its potency and been linked to psychosis and mental ill health.

Calling all Kilkenny artists and arts organisations - applications for funding wanted Reporter:   ); The second round of the Bank of Ireland Begin Together Arts Fund, in partnership with Business to Arts, has been launched with a call for artists and arts organisations in Kilkenny to apply for funding. The all-island Begin Together Arts Fund will make a total of €1 million in arts funding available over three years, awarded to projects that are adapting due to the pandemic, or are inspired by and responding to our recovery.  The Arts Fund supports or commissions artists and arts organisations to develop arts projects that engage the individuals, audiences and communities involved.
