This is to advise that Commissioner President Randy Guy has ordered the St. Mary’s County flag immediately lowered to half-staff in honor of
Maryland Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller
, who died Friday, Jan. 15, 2021

Senate President Emeritus Miller represented Legislative District 27.
The Governor has also ordered Maryland flags to be at half-staff. The state flag and the county flag will remain lowered until sunset, the day of his interment on a date to be determined.
“Senator Miller did many good things for the State of Maryland and St. Mary’s County. His work ethic and determination to serve the community are worthy of respect; we will miss him greatly. The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County and I extend our deepest condolences to his family,” said Commissioner President Randy Guy. ....

Former Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr., a political institution in the state, died Friday after a battle with cancer. He was 78.
At 4:25 p.m. this afternoon, Maryland Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones, Miller s family said in a statement.

Senate President Emeritus Mike Miller died Friday afternoon.In a statement, the Miller family said: At 4:25 p.m. this afternoon, Maryland Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was 78 years old. He s survived by his wife, Patti, son, Tommy, daughters, Amanda, Michelle, Melissa and Melanie, sisters, Susan, Cynthia, Melinda, Nancy and Kim, brothers, Jonathan, David and Mark, and his 15 grandchildren, and was predeceased by his sister Judith. Miller will lie in state in the rotunda of the Maryland State House on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person visitation will be limited to appointments for invited guests only. On Saturday, the family will hold a private Mass and service at their family church St. John the Evangelist in Clinton, followed by a private internment.
