Maurice Beals was on the street in the 5700 block of West Ohio Street about 7:40 p.m. when someone approached and fired shots at him, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Beals suffered a gunshot wound to the left arm and chest and was transported to Loyola Hospital in critical condition.
