DALLAS - Before 100-degree temperatures get to North Texas, the city of Dallas partnered with Reliant to help vulnerable residents stay cool.
Portable AC units and coolers were distributed at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center and the MLK Junior Community Center as part of the Beat the Heat Program.
In the past, there would be cooling stations set up around town. However, with the pandemic, organizers decided to take the cool air directly to residents.

Dallas County adds 730 new COVID-19 cases, 31 deaths
Several testing and vaccine sites were closed because of inclement weather.
Dallas County reported 730 new coronavirus cases Monday as it added 31 victims to its COVID-19 death toll.
Most of the latest victims were in their 50s and older. Thirteen were Dallas residents, five were from Garland and four each lived in Grand Prairie and Irving. Two were Carrollton residents and one each lived in DeSoto, Farmers Branch and Richardson. Two of the victims, a Dallas woman and a Grand Prairie man both in their 70s, were known not to have underlying high-risk health conditions. ....
