COVID-19 leaves Iowa teen with rare, painful neurological disorder


Riley Wells, 15, spent much of his bout with COVID-19 this winter coughing in bed and wondering when he could return to the wrestling mat. 
Like most young people, he experienced relatively mild symptoms from the disease. The virus s true damage wouldn t appear for weeks, in the form of a rare neurological disorder that leaves Wells in constant pain.
The high school freshman was diagnosed with Parsonage-Turner Syndrome. In the simplest terms, it stops his nerves from communicating with muscles. Doctors warn it could take months for the pain phase to end, and years for full recovery, his mother, Jennifer Uile-Wells, said. ....
