SPOKANE, Wash. Students are learning in class again, but it doesn’t mean they’re caught up on everything they should know.
Research shows students are falling behind in learning. Between those months of virtual learning, transitioning to hybrid, then full time, there was no stability.
Even with many students back in school again, there is no guarantee they would be in class every day. The uncertainties of the virus still lingers.
West Valley High School just had to shift all its students to virtual learning for a week and a half because of an increase in COVID cases. ....

Local educators hope getting vaccinated will ease back-to-school uncertainty for students, parents

Those educators say it was the news they’ve been waiting for. 
It was an announcement that kind of came out of nowhere. Teachers and daycare workers didn’t expect to get vaccinated until the spring or even summer. 
“We’re really thrilled to be included in the bump up,” said Rebecca Lee, owner of Green Gable Children’s Learning Center. 
Lee feels Tuesday’s announcement is a win for families. 
“We feel like parents are going to be much more confident about returning to the workplace because they’ll know that their child care center teachers are all protected,” said Lee.  ....

OFF AND ON As I begin this column, we re having some of that mixed weather where it sunshines one minute and rains the next and sometimes it does both at the same time! It looks like we are still in for some showers this week but it is mixed with some dry days at the beginning of this week, so we ll take what dry weather we can get. Of course clear skies usually mean freezing at night, so here s hoping you ve prepared your faucets properly for that, and your outside critters are getting some extra feed of good quality to help them fight off the chill. If current weather models hold, we will end 2020 with rain and start 2021 with the same thing; I do hope that s not a sign! ....
