Dan Miller endorsed by Nevada County Deputy Sheriff's Association for District 3 supervisor

Supervisor candidate Dan Miller has announced he has received the endorsement of the Nevada County Deputy Sheriff’s Association in his bid for re-election.
The association, a benevolent group representing sworn peace officers within the Sheriff’s Office, sent an email to the Miller campaign announcing the endorsement.
“The Nevada County Deputy Sheriff’s Association voted to endorse Dan Miller for District 3 supervisor,” Brett LaCosse, treasurer of the Nevada County Deputy Sheriff’s Association PAC, wrote in an email to the Miller campaign office. “Knowing we are close to the election, I felt it was best to provide you as much advance notice as possible.” ....

Watson to challenge Montgomery board incumbent


At least one of the seats on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will be contested this year.
Supervisor Sara Bohn is being challenged by fellow Democrat Liam Watson, a 21-year-old Montgomery County native who announced last week his intention to run for the District A seat.
Watson said his long interest in politics began when he was 7 years old and in the second grade. The April 16, 2007, shooting at Virginia Tech occurred during that period.
“That’s what opened my eyes to how powerful politics could be,” Watson said.
Watson’s online campaign page includes a photo of himself as a boy looking down at a bloodstained sidewalk outside of Tech’s Norris Hall. ....

Former El Paso County Sheriff's deputy loses POST certification under new law | Local News

The Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board revoked the certification of six peace officers Dec. 11, 2020, for knowingly making untruthful statements while conducting their official duties. The revocations are the first to be mandated by Senate Bill 19-166, which passed during the 2019 legislative session. As a result, those six officers are no longer able to work as certified peace officers in Colorado. 
One of these officers was El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Russell Smith, who had worked at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center since September 2016. According to an internal affairs investigation summary obtained by the ....
