Solvista Health donations eligible for special tax credits

Solvista Health announced that donors to its Regional Assessment Center for substance use, withdrawal management and mental health treatment are now eligible to receive special tax credits for their charitable contributions.
The center is a nearly 12,000-square-foot building under construction next to Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, a press release stated.
The project received approval by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade to be included in the Chaffee County Enterprise Zone and the tax credit opportunity.
Contributions of $250 and more to Solvista Health, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will qualify the donor to receive a tax credit on their Colorado income tax return, in addition to the current tax deduction available. Solvista Health worked in conjunction with the Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments to be included in the program. There are 16 Enterprise Zones throughout Colorado in both urban and ru ....

Fremont County Hits Veteran Homelessness Milestone

Government officials and nonprofit workers in Fremont County have been working with Community Solutions since October 2019 as part of the Built for Zero project, a framework created by Community Solutions to end homelessness across the country.
Cañon City is located about an hour southwest of Colorado Springs and is home to several prisons, including the Colorado State Penitentiary, which provide jobs for many of the area s residents. Loaves and Fishes Ministries runs the county s only emergency homeless shelter, in Canon City, which has seventeen beds and is typically full every night.
We applied just because we knew that we wanted to end homelessness and we knew that what we were doing wasn’t making the greatest impact. We needed help. We needed technical assistance. UAACOG offers help with repairs

Central Colorado Housingâs Home Repair program can upgrade windows, add insulation, repair or replace furnaces and replace doors.
With the sometimes extreme cold weather and heating costs on the rise, these upgrades/repairs will quickly pay for themselves.Â
The program can address other homeowner concerns such as plumbing problems, electrical problems and fire mitigation (tree trimming) to name a few.
Construction supervision is provided at no cost and payment assistance is available to homeowners who qualify.
To qualify for the program, applicants must:Â

Waste audit tracks local habits

Between 2018 and 2019, Chaffee County generated more waste, but recycled or composted less, the audit found.
The report was prepared by Erica Wohldmann-Gift and GARNA executive director Dominique Naccarato.
In 2018, the county generated 25,420 tons of waste, and in 2019 that figure increased to 26,237 tons. The amount of that waste that was recycled or composted decreased year-to-year from 2,058 to 1,912 tons.
That makes for an estimated landfill diversion rate 8.1 percent in 2018 and 7.3 percent in 2019, according to the report. The statewide average diversion rate in 2018 was 12 percent, and the national average rate is 35 percent.
On average, each resident of Chaffee County throws away 6.5 pounds of trash per day, the report said. ....
