Lightner named new president of Auburn Main Street

Lightner has served on the organizationâs design committee as well as several boards across DeKalb County.
âZach is in a great position to carry the momentum of AMS from our previous president, Eldon Byler,â said AMS Executive Director Ann Finchum.
Lightner, a Fort Wayne native, lives in Auburn with his wife, Kristin, and their three children. He graduated from Purdue University with a business management degree and earned his law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. He is an attorney at Lightner Law Firm in downtown Auburn.
Lightner is a member of the Lions Club, YMCA of DeKalb County, United Way of DeKalb County, DeKalb Republican Central Committee, Indiana State Bar Board of Governors and Indiana State Bar House of Delegates. ....

Pendant ties to store's past | Thestar

AUBURN â On the 120th anniversary of Carbaugh Jewelers, owner Mike Littlejohn has created a piece that ties together the full history of the downtown Auburn store.
The opal pendant features a stone that dates back a century and was touched by two past owners, father and son Charles and Bob Carbaugh. It was found in an envelope from Littleâs Jewelry Store, bearing the name of Ed Little, who founded the business in 1901.
Store employee Jan Bundy discovered the opal as she was sorting through the belongings of her late parents, Bob and Betty Carbaugh of Auburn.
An outside envelope bore her fatherâs handwriting, and her grandfather had written on a stone-protecting paper inside, identifying the stone as an Australian black opal. ....

Sponsors sought for outdoor art exhibit

AUBURN â The Downtown Auburn Business Association and Auburn Main Street are seeking sponsors for this summerâs outdoor art exhibit, âCheers from our Corner of the Worldâ.
The exhibit will feature 20 wooden corner fences. The fences are being made by local carpenters Craig Presley and Chase Harker of 4 Quarter Wood Products in Pleasant Lake.
It will be the groupsâ 12th outdoor art exhibit and will be on display from June through September. Like previous exhibits, the corner fences will be placed in the downtown Auburn business district and will feature created art from local and regional artists. Each fence will have a plate affixed to it identifying the title of the work, the artist, and sponsoring individuals and businesses. ....
