Lammermuir Larder launched to help people in crisis

AN INITIATIVE providing emergency food and support to people in crisis has been launched in Haddington.
The Lammermuir Larder was unveiled this month in a bid to help those who find themselves in crisis or financial difficulties.
Now, members of the public have been urged to get behind the scheme and donate food so that stocks can be built up.
Lammermuir Larder, which will be headed up by a team of volunteers, operates through a referral system, either from a professional familiar with the individual/family, or from the individual/family themselves.
Referrals are kept strictly confidential.
Once the referral has been received, a ‘larder list’ will be sent out detailing products that are available. ....

One of the few remaining major components of the village of Palatine s bike plan is moving forward.
The plan entails the construction of an asphalt path that will connect the existing bike route on Smith Street to the path in the Deer Grove Forest Preserve.

One of the few remaining major components of the village of Palatine s bike plan is moving forward.
The plan entails the construction of an asphalt path that will connect the existing bike route on Smith Street to the path in the Deer Grove Forest Preserve. A new crossing and pedestrian signal will be added at Dundee Road and Smith Street, and Smith Street will be signed as a bike route between Dundee Road and Cunningham Drive.

I think a lot of people have been anticipating this, Councilman Brad Helms, who chairs the village s infrastructure and environment committee, said at a village board meeting Monday. ....
