LAKETOWN TWP. In a split 4-1 vote, the Laketown Township board approved next year s township budget, nearly doubling the current operating millage for the township. The 0.45-mill increase from 0.55 mills to 1 mill amounts to about a $70 increase on the annual tax bill for the average homeowner in Laketown Township. The average taxable value of a Laketown Township home is about $156,000, according to figures presented by Township Manager Al Meshkin during the meeting. Meshkin proposed the 1-mill tax rate to the board as part of the Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget, which the board held a hearing for and approved Wednesday evening.
